I could not pronounce the name of this place for my life, but it is one of my favorite ice cream places in the city. The flavors are so intense (in a good way) and varied that I don’t even think about the fact they’re vegan! It’s styled more like a casual cafe and I’ve often seen people bring their laptops to work as they enjoy the artisan ice cream. Their Earl Grey ice cream is definitely one of my top three ice cream flavors ever. EVER. Also, pictured above is the equally amazing pistachio ice cream.
Is it sad to admit that ice cream is one of my favorite foods? I will trek across Manhattan on foot in the dead of winter just to get one of my favorites listed below. Of course, there are still so many places to try (and so little time), but these are my tried and true favorite ice cream places in New York City.
Admittedly, the fun name of this ice creamery allured me in the first place and once you get inside, there is no shortage of equally as fun ice cream treat names or glittery unicorns (I love this place). Whether you order a Salty Pimp (vanilla soft serve literally injected with dulce de leche, sprinkled with just the right amount of sea salt and dunked in chocolate dip) or a Bea Arthur (soft serve covered in crushed vanilla wafers), you can’t really go wrong.
Located in the heart of Chinatown, the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory is popular for it’s more unique flavors, such as Black Sesame or Lychee. It’s surrounded by fun Chinatown shopping stalls (in case you’re on the hunt for some super cheap knockoffs) and delicious, cheap soup dumpling restaurants. Definitely a yummy place to stop by when you’re in the area! (P.S. cash only.)
This place is a well-loved cult classes now and I have joined the train that things that anything Momofuku can do no wrong. Besides the Cereal Milk Soft Serve (pictured above), which is basically like frozen milk and perfectly sweet corn flakes, they serve fun desserts, like their Crack Pie and a variety of cookies. A little birdie told me that they now serve Crack Pie Cereal Milk…so a trip is in order for me.
