I am a huge fan of planners to keep track of everything from school schedules, blogging schedules, daily routines and even health and fitness progress. I used to have one spiral Kate Spade planner that I loved, but only used for school and other personal events and then a separate three ring binder to hold some blogging and health schedules. It worked for a while until I realized that I never opened the binder because it was too bulky and out of the way. I did some research and then decided to get a 6-ring filofax that can house everything I need to look at! After some Youtube video stalking, I came upon Kikki-K, which is a Swedish design company that is based in Australia. I believe each season they come out with different color leather planners so this lilac one was 50% off! (And is still available online now!)
I decided to go with the largest size they had which is the Personal Leather Planner (an A5 paper size) so that I could see everything clearly. I have heard that the A5 planners seem too large to carry around, but I carry a large tote and don’t see a problem with doing that.
Once discovering this brand, I unlocked the magical online filofax/planner community. There are countless videos on Youtube of planner reviews and unboxings and, a new thing I learned about, planner decorating. I have always loved stationary and anything cutesy and I never thought to decorate my planner with these cute items until I saw some seriously creative monthly and weekly spreads. As others have said, I think it really motivates you to be organized because pretty tape and stickers make organizing more fun.
Here is my attempt at a monthly spread (seriously, check Youtube and Pinterest for some amazing designs). The three pack of page flags on the left, the pretty pens, floral washi tape and the sticker sheets are all from Amazon. The page flags at the top of the month are actually a printable that a kind person posted in the Kikki-K Facebook group…which I, of course, immediately joined after ordering and stalked thoroughly. The community is super kind and friendly and always willing to answer questions and help aid in searches for particular items. It was literally like unlocking the door to Narnia.
Here is my week on two pages. This planner only came with blank month of two pages so I bought the Filofax brand weekly spread. I actually decorated all of the weeks in February because I was so excited…I’m still figuring out exactly how I want to organize everything, but I definitely like having a daily to-do list on the side of each day. The to-do stickers are also a free printable from here.
The page flags are from the same printable from the Facebook page. These pastel highlighters are also some of my new holy-grail stationary supplies. The colors aren’t as neon as normal highlighters which I really like. There’s the usual angled side and also a skinny marker at the other end. Amazing for planner decoration or even for school.
I just love looking at it…the lilac leather is so pretty and it also came with pretty pastel dividers and two notepads. Although I am trying to maintain a more minimal lifestyle, these stationary supplies were just too cute to resist. If you have a planner, how do you decorate it?
