There are always new restaurants in NYC that seem to take up my entire Instagram feed and make me FOMO (fear of missing out) for not having been there. Lately, Chalait is that place. They are famous for their beautiful Matcha Lattes and photogenic Avocado Toast and I finally got to visit and join the hoard of ‘grammers a few weekends ago. The decor is minimalistic and industrial cool, but there was not a lot of seating available making it hard to sit and talk with friends (or snap the perfect Insta). My friends and I waited a for open seats before ordering our food, so that we wouldn’t awkwardly be standing around with plates.
The Classic Avocado Toast was amazing and probably my favorite dish we ordered; it was a bit pricey for what it is, but I would definitely get it again. The sandwiches were also good, but a little too pricey to get with a drink. The Matcha Lattes were so pretty, but there was not enough matcha flavor for green tea-lovers like my friends and myself. I still got a subtle flavor and finished the huge mug, but the most enjoyable part about it was the picture (#doitforthegram). The cafe itself is located in a really cool area of West Village with a bunch of other delicious eateries nearby, so be sure to grab a quick bite and explore the neighborhood!
