I get a lot of questions on Instagram about how I decorate my planner as well as what items I use to decorate it. It is definitely not a necessity to embellish your planner in order to stay organized, but for myself and I’m sure a lot of others in the community who are obsessed with stationery, it makes the whole process more fun and makes me excited to open up my planner and see what I need to get done for the day. I love using stickers and washi tape for basic planner decoration, but I always love trying new things. Luckily, Franklin Planner has recently released a Planner Kit that has a variety of products that you can use to decorate your planner or even other paper activities.
There was a lot of fun items stored in the little bag! There are some custom stickers designed by the Franklin Planner team, enamel dots, journaling cards, rub-on elements, a set of magnetic bookmarks and a Le Pen in teal. This whole set is the Spring theme that released in April and there is going to be a Summer theme released in the beginning of July! There were some embellishments in the kit that I hadn’t used before (like the enamel dots and rub-ons), but I delved in and went all out prettying up Week 24 in my White Color Crush planner!
The embellishment that I had the most fun with was probably the rub-on elements. I had never used them before and considering that the package only came with a popsicle stick and didn’t come with any instructions, I think I did pretty well! Basically, all you do is lay down the pattern onto your paper and rub it on firmly with the popsicle stick. Super easy and now mess at all! Instead of using washi tape for the week, I used the colorful and gold-foil rub-ons to border the tops and bottoms of my pages. Then I had to use the gorgeous floral piece and used about half of it in my “Notes” section and then the other half in my Tuesday box. They almost feel like a fake tattoo material, but I love how they add shine and pattern to my pages without adding any bulk. Then I used an enamel bow shape to fill up some empty space in the top box as well as some enamel dots to add bubble-like texture to the tops. The custom stickers are large but super cute. They are glossy, so you will need a pen or marker that writes on top of washi tape or you could use a Sharpie! I became a little bit obsessed with the rub-ons and even decorated one of the journaling cards with the gold foil text and hearts. I usually add a journaling card in between my week to write out my weekly to-dos or goals.
I decorated the journaling card even further by adding another green squiggly rub-on element on the back and some more cute enamel shapes. I even put the rub-on “Notes” word onto one of the page flag stickers and stuck it onto the back of the card. The possibilities with this kit are truly endless! I added more gold heart enamel shapes onto one of the magnetic bookmarks and I just love how cute it looks and how it makes this page stand out so I can easily flip to it. For all the written text in these pages, I used the Le Pen teal felt-tip pen which fits in perfectly with the Spring color scheme and writes amazingly well.
I loved being able to try out new products and brands in my planner with plenty of spare embellishments that I plan to use in my scrapbook and journal. If you are interested in trying out the kit (available here),
