I am a huge fan of New Year’s. Some people view it negatively: a time that people use excuses to wait on creating new goals or the fact that it’s just another day, hour, minute passing by. But I love the fact that suddenly there is a tangible fresh start. 1.1.16. It’s like a zero on a stop watch that you can actually see and feel. I don’t think one should wait only for each new year to create a new life, but being a lister and a tracker, I enjoy having the zero point to start from.
As mentioned in my previous post, 2015 has been such an amazing year for me. Not amazing in the things that have happened to me, but more so in the fact that I have been able to be myself more. After reviewing my 2015 resolutions, I can see how much I’ve grown from the person I was 365 days ago (well, technically 368 days today). Some of these goals I haven’t touched, others I’ve accomplished and others I have only just started. The purpose of goals is to start and if you get that far, I think it’s a small victory in itself.
Health: After doing a lot of reflection, I am starting this year by being kinder to myself. I am still striving to live a healthier lifestyle and thanks to the steps I made last year, I am working to get where I want to be physically, emotionally and mentally.
Financial: This will be the year when I cut myself off to be completely independent. It’s a scary goal, but one that I am excited to complete. This includes finding a full-time job, starting a “side hustle” (some sort of small business), and creating an actual savings plan.
Personal: I want to travel more and further this year. I am so thankful that I got to go to some amazing places last year and for 2016 I am planning trips to Korea, Chicago and others! I want to do more of the things I love like reading (goal is to read 30 books) and continuing to create. My word for this year is “finish” because I tend to start things strong and then leave them or finish them half-heartedly. This will be the year that I finish graduating from school, reach the finish line for my health goals and finish whatever else I start.
Can’t wait to start this new year strong! What are your goals for 2016?
